I am so late on my day that should have been! Yesterday A's school called around noon, and she had a fever. She got much worse during the afternoon, as she is wont to do, and because any sort of fever-reducing medicine makes her vomit, the best I can do for her is ice water and cold washcloths.
She was home again today, and felt better but still looks terrible, slept off and on, and has a high fever. Yesterday it was 103.9; today it is 102.9. She has a nasty cough.
Anyway, here is an imaginary day of cozy awesomeness:
I woke up around 8 and my room was confusingly bright. When I looked out the window the ground was covered in snow, and quarter-sized flakes were falling from the cloudy sky.
I went downstairs to have coffee with raspberry-chocolate creamer. I sat in the yellow room, which smelled very very dry and not at all like wet carpet, and looked out the back windows into the woods, watching the snow fall.
I built a fire and read until lunchtime, wrapped in my faux slanket. At lunchtime Jason and the kids came home from wherever they had been. The kids and I built a cozy pillow bed near the fireplace, while Jason made me chocolate banana crepes with powdered sugar and whipped cream on top.
After lunch the children fell asleep in front of the fireplace. Jason and I watched an entire season of 30 Rock.
When the kids woke up, Jason graciously took them outside to play in the snow. I baked chocolate chip cookies. Our house was magically very clean.
***THE END***

When it comes to children and pets, I can be extremely patient, and I
confess to being rather proud of this trait. A lot of people tire of my
daughter M’s ...

Great post. Here's mine...
ReplyDeleteAfter a full night sleep I awake to breakfast in bed and a quiet house where everyone greats me with smiles. Nobody wants anything from me and I'm finally able to trim my nails and possibly put a coat of polish on them. I am able to take a shower and maybe even go shopping for clothes I desperately need with money that I don't feel guilty spending. enjoy a book with decaf coffee at night and go to sleep whenever I please without having to worry about laundry in the washer that may mold overnight or shirts that if not folded will be wrinkly and have to be washed again. The end. Sorry, not creative, but I've had a rough few hundred days.
I have to hit up Borders for that book. I needed it today. Our school library doesn't have it. BOOOOOOO.
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved that. I needed that! I went to that place and it was so cozy. I hope someday my children do fall asleep in front of the fireplace and there are crepes around and all that such stuff. Sigh....what a great idea. I'm thinking of mine.
