Today we have an impending disaster in the Urine household. It is pajama day at the boys' preschool, and apparently any kind of change is a major problem for little P.
The boys have only just (in the last two weeks) adjusted to preschool. They no longer cry when being dropped off, they go into class cheerfully, and they don't spend all morning dreading school. This pajama day thing has thrown P for a loop.
He says he hates seeing people he doesn't know wearing pajamas. I suppose I can understand that. He says he will hate everyone today, except G and Joey A. [Apparently Joey T. is a bully.] P refuses to wear pajamas, which is fine, but he is tearful at the prospect of this unusual break in the preschool routine.

Years ago, we tried to break the boys of having to wear a "set" of pjs to bed...we were going to go with T-shirts and be done with it. To which John CRIED. Hysterically. He needed pants.
ReplyDeleteWell, one of the reasons we decided to nix the pants, were because they were all too small. So we caved and let him wear his toddler sized pants.
Fastforward a couple of years, when our 5 year old boy has pajama day, and he is still wearing his 2T pants. And he throws the fit of all fits when I introduce, proper size 5 pants. An hour later, he was still crying because he couldn't wear his inappropriate capris to school.
Why is pajama day so complicated??????
Poor P! I am making a disapproving face at Joey T and his pj's, wherever they both are, right now in solidarity.
ReplyDeleteWow, I never realized that could be an issue with pj day. My kids with change issues usually just freak out if they forget their pj's. I love him hating seeing people he doesn't know in their pj's. I mean, I hate that he's sad about it, but that kid cracks me up. I totally get him.
